Cape WOW "Voice of the Girl Child"
Creative Writing Competition
Honouring the Spirit of Women
Aspirant female poets, writers and playwrights between the ages of 12 and 18 years old are invited to enter the "Voice of the Girl Child" creative writing competition.
Participants can submit a short story or essay of no more than 2 500 words, plays or dramatic sketches of a maximum of 50 pages and poems with a maximum of 40 lines.
The Judges selecting the final works are from the local literary and arts arena. Winners will be invited to attend a creative writing workshop to further explore their ideas and be exposed to different writing skills and techniques. They will also receive book vouchers as one of their prizes.
Entries should be original works and participants may submit only one entry. All entries must be accompanied by a separate sheet of paper containing all your contact details. Written entries may be in any South African language but rough translations should accompany the works if it is not in English.
The final works will be displayed at the Baxter Theatre between 2 – 9 August 2005 to celebrate National Women’s Day.
