ON-GOING DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS AND ASTROLOGERS  Thoughts expressed by members of the South African Astrology Community in June 2009     (The items in bold were mentioned more than once,  and those highlighted in blue more than three times)

On-Going Development of Students and Astrologers Suggestions 1-8 1.       I want opportunities to practice chart interpretation with other astrologers 2.       I want to learn more about astrology – everything about astrology 3.       There is a need for students of astrology to be supported by more experienced astrologers – in whatever way they’re studying. They need hope and encouragement to help them get past the difficult phases that every student experiences 4.       I would like there to be a system for learning from each other through exchange readings 5.       Mentoring – support for new astrologers from more experienced astrologers 6.       Availability of information about educational opportunities for astrologers 7.       Special attention needs to be paid to astrology students who have enough theoretical knowledge, but don’t know how to get started as working astrologers. They have many needs, and the present group of working astrologers have much to share in this respect. 8.       I want information and understanding!  Just talking with other astrologers doesn’t always give me the kind of information I need. They seem to want to talk about what’s in their own birth-charts. I want to understand astrology in deeper ways than just that – like the philosophy of astrology – how nature and astrology are in harmony – how science, religion and astrology interact – the cycles of history and astrology – current affairs, economic cycles and astrology – and lots more

On-Going Development of Students and Astrologers Suggestions 9-13 9.       I want to know more about medieval and traditional astrology. 10.    I want to know more about Indian and Chinese astrology. 11.    As a new astrologer, I would love to hear more astrologers speak and be offered additional, but affordable training from those who feel they have wisdom to impart. 12.    We could approach the development of astrology in South Africa in a strategic way – identifying our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats, and creating objectives and action plans 13.    When an interesting connection in transits is going to occur – lets all talk about it, and the possibilities – ahead of time, and watch together how it works out – as a practical experience in forecasting
